(KMOV) -- Police have taken a juvenile into custody after a crash in Godfrey, Ill. Wednesday.

Police said 17-year-old Blake Hampton was airlifted to SLU Hospital after suffering serious head trauma in a three car wreck on Aug. 25. Hampton was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck down Humbert Road near Alton High School when witnesses tell police Hampton was following a white vehicle when they switched lanes and collided.

Hampton’s truck then swerved into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle, flipping the truck and causing it to skid into another vehicle.

Hampton is a senior at Alton High School and was the only person injured in the accident. He is still listed in critical condition.

The white car fled the scene and was spotted Friday in the parking lot at Alton High School with damage to its driver’s side mirror. Police identified the driver, who is a juvenile, and was taken in for questioning. After questioning, they were taken into custody and are being held in the Madison County Juvenile Detention Home.
