CHICAGO (AP) -- An attorney for Rod Blagojevich blames himself for the guilty verdict on one of 24 counts in the corruption trial of the former Illinois governor.
A jury on Tuesday found Blagojevich guilty of one count of lying to federal agents and the judge declared a mistrial on the other 23 counts.
Sam Adam Jr. says he didn't do a good enough job defending the ex-governor on that count.
Federal prosecutors say they'll retry the case as soon as possible.
But Adam says federal prosecutors don't have a case for a retrial.
Both Adam and another Blagojevich attorney, Sam Adam Sr., say the case is about a federal prosecutor who is unfairly going after people.
Blagojevich pleaded not guilty to charges that included trying to sell or trade President Barack Obama's former U.S. Senate seat among other allegations.
