Man charged after child's death

A Madison County grand jury on Thursday indicted Torrance Rogers for first-degree murder for allegedly shaking 3-month-old Taylor Pinkas.

The incident, which happened on April 28, 1999, on J Street in Edwardsville, caused the infant to suffer permanent physical and neurological damage. Taylor was confined to a wheelchair and was unable to move or speak.

Rogers, who was Taylor's biological father, pleaded guilty of attempted aggravated battery and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was paroled in 2007 and has been living in East St. Louis.
