(KMOV) –Police search for a cunning criminal who gave away a free flight to St. Louis to steal a three-carat diamond ring.

“The scariest part thought was really when he pulled me out of the car, because behind the warehouse, it was just like a closed down warehouse. Nobody would have seen anything, “said Emily Graham. “I thought we going to a mall to go a jewelry store to have the ring looked at by someone he had selected, but we’re going through a really, scary terrible neighborhood.”

Berkeley Police say a woman in Wisconsin was selling a ring on Craigslist when the suspect flew her to Lambert International Airport, had a car with a driver waiting for her and then robbed her.

They took her three-carat ring, laptop, purse and even her shoes.

“He asked really great questions that a real buyer would ask,” said Graham of her previous conversations with the suspect.

Graham, 32, told News 4’s Jasmine Huda a young man in St. Louis contacted her on Craigslist saying he was interested in purchasing the ring for $19,000.

“He’s like ok, well, we’ll pay for your flight and so he bought my flight down to St. Louis,” Graham said.

The flight was arranged and with a car service to pick her up from the airport. The driver was to take her to jewelry store but instead she was driven to a deserted area about ten minutes from Lambert. Graham said a second man opened the car door and held up a gun.

“I said, can I just have my ID? And then he hit me over the head and said, shut up your stupid b$#%&,” said Graham.

Berkeley Lt Art Jackson Jr. said they are trying to find the credit card, what was used to purchase the plane ticket. At this time, they have a person of interest but no arrests have been made.

Graham is thankful she wasn’t physically harmed but she is hurt someone could organize such a brazen operation against her.

“That that kid grew up, not knowing how to make right decisions. That’s what he was taught. That, that’s okay? That just kills me that a kid could grow up like that,” said Graham.

Further details into this ongoing investigation were not known.
