(KMOV) – Police said a St. Charles County man was arrested after he botched a meth cook while his two young sons were inside his home. Allen Goreham, 42, was charged with manufacturing meth and two counts of child endangerment.
According to deputies, Goreham was attempting to make methamphetamine at his home in the first block of Elmtree Dr. near O’Fallon on October 1.
Authorities said a plastic bottle which he was using to cook meth in his bathroom failed, spewing fumes and toxic chemicals. Authorities said he shared the bathroom with his two kids, ages 4 and 7.
Deputies searched his home and found a syringe of meth on the bathroom sink, a baby jar in the refrigerator that was full of a chemical used to finish meth and fuel inside a Mason jar on the bathroom sink. They also found a variety of ingredients used to make meth as well as a burn pile outside discarded meth cook remains.
Authorities said Goreham later admitted that he and his wife use meth. He also told deputies he knew it was harmful to his children but continued doing it out of stupidity. He is being held in the St. Charles County jail on a $30,000 cash only bond.
The home has since been condemned.
