(KMOV.com) -- A crowd of more than 25,000 filled Forest Park Sunday morning for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes.

News 4’s Russell Kinsaul served as emcee of the event. This is the 19th year for the JDRF event which raised $1.3 million this year.

According to the JDRF, each year more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults – about 80 people every day – are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in the US.

T1D accounts for $14.9 billion in health care costs in the US each year.
