(KMOV.com) -- One suspect is dead, two others in custody after shooting a St. Louis Police officer in north St. Louis City.
According to St. Louis Police, the officer was shot in the foot at Taylor and Garfield around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities said two officers witnessed what they believed to be a drug transaction involving a vehicle with three suspects.
The officers then tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused, according to police. Officers then chased the suspects.
Police said the suspected vehicle lost control and crashed at the intersection of Taylor and Garfield.
Authorities said the first suspect, a 25-year-old male, exited the driver's side of the vehicle and opened fire on the officers. Police then returned fire injuring the suspect multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police took the other two suspects, a 28-year-old male and 18-year-old male, into custody without incident.
The 29-year-old officer was transported to the hospital and listed in stable condition. The second officer, 47-year-old, was not injured in the incident.
Both officers are on administrative leave, per department policy.
