HILLSBORO, Mo. -- An eastern Missouri homeowner has won the right to post a political sign in his yard.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that a Jefferson County judge on Thursday ruled that a Pevely homeowners’ association violated Jim Lamprecht’s right to free speech by prohibiting his political sign.
In April 2011 Lamprecht put up a sign showing support for a city Board of Aldermen candidate. Days later, a trustee of the homeowners’ association told him the sign violated subdivision covenants against most signs.
The American Civil Liberties Union filed suit on behalf of Lamprecht.
