HAZELWOOD, Mo. -- An umbrella mistaken for a rifle is blamed for a business evacuation in suburban St. Louis.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the First Bank Corporate Center in Hazelwood was evacuated and locked down Wednesday morning.
Security officers saw what they thought was a rifle being carried into the building. Hazelwood police chief Gregg Hall says it was only an umbrella.
Business returned to normal after the threat proved unfounded.
