The St. Louis Fire Department has received a new 44-foot fire boat and is naming it after the late Stan “The Man” Musial.
The vessel, which was purchased through a port grant, can reach speeds of up to 38 knots. Its design allows for pumping of up to 7,000 gallons per minute output and also provides fire suppression capability for flammable liquid fires.
The boat was manufactured by MetalCraft Marine of Clayton, NY and Kingston, Ontario.
St. Louis is home to the nation’s third-largest inland river port.
