(BaseballSTL) -- Players in other organizations have publicly said they are sick and tired of watching the Cardinals play in October.  Well, they’re going to have to do it for yet another year in 2013.  The Cardinals clinched their first division crown since 2009, their fourth playoff appearance in the last five years.

They popped champagne into the early morning hours at Busch Stadium.  And no matter how many times they do it, they say it never ever gets old.

“No, it really doesn’t.  This is why you play the game,” Matt Carpenter said.  “To win and win championships.  Obviously this isn’t the ultimate goal for us but it’s something to be extremely proud of and we obviously are.  We’re enjoying this.”

“We’ve done some special things but to win this division - and a lot of us it’s our first time - it was a tough deal to hold off the Pirates and the Reds.  I’m just really proud of everybody,” David Freese said.

“This never gets old.  Especially when we’ve got like ten guys where this is their first time doing it, it’s good,” Yadier Molina said.  “It’s fun.  I’m blessed to be here with them and I enjoy it.  It’s really fun.”

Cards players also say they genuinely like being with each other and supporting one another and they believe that’s a big reason why they’ve had so much success over the last few years.  They understand there’s a lull every season, creating the fan base to think the sky is falling, but David Freese told me earlier this year “the Cardinals always find a way.”

Well, they have once again this year.
