(KMOV.com) – The drama over building a Walmart continues in Ellisville.

The City of Ellisville and mayor Adam Paul continue to quarrel with developer the Sansone Group over bringing a Walmart to the city. According to a Sansone Group spokesperson the group has convinced Walmart that Ellisville cannot revoke the initial permit.

Initially, Walmart was interested in building a store in Ellisville with the Sansone Group as the developer of the site. This plan had the support of the majority of city council members, but not Mayor Paul. In fact, Mayor Paul was staunchly opposed to the idea.

Through an impeachment by the city council and reinstatement as mayor by a county judge, Paul remained against the plan to bring the store to Ellisville. With new city council members in office, Paul had the support needed to oppose the idea and Walmart backed out.

Paul has remained against building the new store because the project would demolish a 100 unit apartment complex, forcing residents from their homes. According to an attorney of opponents to the plan, Sansone Group must acquire the property to build the new Walmart store. However, that has not been done yet.

Now the waiting game begins as this fight heats back up.
