(KMOV) – A Maplewood woman faces charges after police said she faked a burglary because she wanted a ride from her boyfriend instead of taking the bus.

Tabitha Coopwood, 23, was charged Sept. 20 with filing a false police report.

According to police, Coopwood called her boyfriend on Aug. 5 to claim she had been robbed and asked him to pick her up.

Police said the boyfriend was concerned and she called police to report the alleged robbery at his urging.

She told police she was walking near Bellevue and Manchester when someone walked up to her, put an object on her back and told her to give him all her money.

Coopwood said she told the suspect she did not have any cash and he ran away without her getting a good.

Police said detectives discovered inconsistencies with her story. She later admitted to making it up because it was the only way her boyfriend would give her a ride and she did not want to ride the bus.

She was later arrested.
