ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- St. Louis County police have issued warrants against a man accused of committing multiple burglaries to fuel a heroin addiction.
Joseph Rankins, 22, faces charges including three counts of first-degree burglary, eight counts of second-degree burglary, eight felony counts of stealing, and one count of stealing a motor vehicle.
Police say the charges cover 16 cases from Sept. 16, 2012, to Jan. 7, 2013.
According to authorities, warrants were issued after a homeowner detained Rankins during a burglary at the Norwood Court Apartments on Jan. 6. Police say officers arrested Rankins, and he later confessed to numerous burglaries in the area.
Police say Rankins admitted to detectives that he committed the burglaries to support a heroin addiction.
Rankins is being held on a $170,000 cash-only bond.
