EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A Madison County Sheriff's deputy who was responding to a call for suspicious activity, shot and killed an armed man Friday evening.
Deputies were called to the 7100 block of State Route 140 where a resident reported suspicious activity at his home. After the deputies talked with the complainant, they went next door to further investigate.
According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, when deputies approached the residence they were confronted by a man armed with a gun. The deputies got into a confrontation with the armed man and he was shot by a Deputy Sheriff.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Illinois State Police are currently investigating.
