(KMOV) -- A would-be robber is dead after his intended victim pulled out his own gun and shot the alleged suspect.
This happened on Dunn Road near Cortena in Hazelwood. The intended victim had a permit to carry.
Around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a 57-year-old man was out walking, carrying his legal gun because of vicious dogs on his route. He heard footsteps behind him, and felt a gun in his back.
Police say the robber was 20-year-old Christopher Holland, Jr., whose girlfriend later told police he was going out to rob someone.
Holland took the man’s wallet and rifled through it. That’s when the man pulled out his gun. Police say Holland raised his gun and the man opened fire.
Holland made it across the street, and fell down a hill.
The investigation is ongoing.
