Nixon announces firm relocating to St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- After nearly 45 years in Belleville, Ill., the sandwich maker Landshire Inc. is relocating its corporate headquarters across the Mississippi River to St. Louis.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon was in St. Louis Friday for the announcement. The firm will retain about 25 workers in Belleville, and will continue to operate a production plant in nearby Caseyville, Ill., where 175 people work.

The state of Missouri awarded Landshire nearly $220,000 in Quality Jobs program incentives. Nixon says Landshire will add 56 jobs in St. Louis with an average annual salary of $52,000.

Landshire produces more than 1 million sandwiches weekly. The new corporate headquarters is scheduled to open May 21 in the Laclede's Landing area of downtown.
