CHESTER, Ill. (AP/KMOV) -- Investigators are trying to pinpoint what sparked an explosion and fire that injured four contract workers at a southern Illinois grain mill.

Authorities say the four victims apparently were cleaning out a silo at a ConAgra mill in Chester when the blast happened at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. The four were treated for burns and other injuries. Their names and hometowns haven't been released, and there's no word on their conditions Wednesday.

The Chester fire department said the explosion was due to either build up of dust or smolder.

Chester is about 60 miles southeast of St. Louis.
