The Young Friends of the Saint Louis Science Center is a diverse group of individuals dedicated to the success of the Science Center. The Young Friends goals are to increase the awareness of the Science Center's mission among young adults, enhance the volunteer base of the Science Center, create additional revenue for the Science Center through membership and fund raising, and to build future leadership for the Science Center.
On Saturday, May 22, the Young Friends of the Saint Louis Science Center will kick off the 12th annual Run for the Stars. The run benefits the Science Center's many educational programs, including YES: Youth Exploring Science, a program that works with 250 underserved teens in the St. Louis area throughout their high school careers.
The Run for the Stars offers a little something for all levels, including individuals, children, families and groups. Choose from a 5K wheelchair race, a 5K run/walk, a 10K run and a 1/2 mile Kids Run. Activities for kids on race day will include inflatables, science experiments and access to the Science Center. And this year, you can train for the run with Fleet Feet’s No Boundaries program!
The 5K wheelchair race kicks off at 7:50 a.m., followed by the 5K run/walk and the 10K run at 8 a.m., then the 1/2 mile Kids Run at 9:30 a.m. All races begin at the Planetarium.
