(KMOV)-- Two people were injured after a head-on collision on Interstate 55 at Highway 141.

This happened around 1 p.m. Monday in the southbound lanes of I-55.

Arnold police said a 78-year-old woman exited southbound I-55. At the top of the ramp she made a u-turn and turned back around heading northbound on southbound I-55. She hit a minivan head-on. The 68-year-old driver of the minivan was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital in stable condition. The wrong-way driver was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital in stable condition.

Police say they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved. The wrong-way driver told police she was confused.

Police are investigating the incident but do not believe criminal charges will be filed. The driver will likely be ticketed and asked to be re-tested before getting her driver license re-issued.
