ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A former St. Louis police officer was sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing stolen merchandise.
The officer, Ronald Jackson, also was ordered to pay $1,480 in restitution. He pleaded guilty in December to the theft of U.S. property.
Prosecutors say Jackson and another officer, 26-year-old Christian Brezill, stole electronics equipment they found in the car of a woman they had arrested on a traffic violation.
The person they arrested was cooperating with an FBI sting.
Brezill was sentenced last month to two years of probation after he cooperated with investigators.
Jackson retired after he was charged and Brezill was fired.
