(KMOV) -- Two students at Granite City High School got into a fight Friday, and one of them pulled out a knife.
Police say the fight broke out just outside the gym's foyer. Cody Siverly, 18, allegedly stabbed his 17-year-old classmate with a knife.
Authorities say the victim was airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital with a stab wound to his stomach. He is in stable condition after undergoing surgery Friday afternoon.
Siverly was charged with 2 Counts Aggravated Battery and 1 Count of Unlawful Use of Weapon. Siverly has a bond set at $60,000 and will be transported to the Madison County Jail later Monday evening.
Five students witnessed the attack. Students from the school say the two students involved in the stabbing had been threatening each other for a year, and one got sick of it. The fight is said to be over a girl.
