Man charged in Wellston rape, robbery

(KMOV) -- A Wellston man is in jail after allegedly raping a woman at gunpoint.
Dennis Jones, 24, has been charged with one count of forcible rape, one count of attempted forcible rape and attempted forcible sodomy, two counts of first-degree robbery and five counts of armed criminal action.
According to St. Louis County police, a man and a woman were walking near the railroad tracks between Plymouth and Etzel in Wellston when they were approached by three men. One of the men was armed.
The victims say that the three men ran toward them and announced a robbery.
Investigators say that after the suspects took the victims’ belongings, the suspect with the gun raped the female victim at gunpoint. The suspect with the gun was identified as Jones.
The incident happened on December 2, 2009. Jones was charged on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. He is being held on $75,000 bond.
The other two suspects in this case have not been identified.
