Fredericktown students to attend classes at church after fire

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. (AP) -- Fredericktown Middle School students will be attending classes for the rest of the year in a church after their school was destroyed by fire last weekend.

The Park Hills Daily Journal reports that Monday will be the first day of classes at Calvary Temple Church for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders, who had this week off because of the fire.

School Superintendent Kelly Burlison says the church was the best option for classes because it has a large kitchen and enough space to keep all of the students together.

Two juveniles were taken into custody earlier this week in connection with last Saturday's fire.

The school year at the southeast Missouri school ends May 28.
