(BaseballStL) — From here on out in the NLCS, the Cardinals must be perfect. One more loss to the Giants, one more missed pitch, one more errant throw, and the season comes to a close.

Matheny told reporters the team is keeping the same approach they’ve maintained all season- one game at a time.

“We don't look at it [as a] series. We haven't done that all season. We look at it as a game. They are letting us play again tomorrow. We can control tomorrow, and Adam Wainwright is going to set the tone for us. Everybody's got to follow suit and jump in and figure out a way to make it happen,” he said. “But we don't take it any further than one at a time when we've got our guy on the mound.”

Tony Cruz will get the start behind the plate for Wainwright’s third start of the 2014 postseason, with Yadier Molina in line for a late game defensive appearance. The Cardinals face Madison Bumgarner for a second time, looking to improve upon their four-hit drubbing in Game 1.
