(KMOV.com) – A teen from Moscow Mills is facing charges after she got into at the Family Arena during a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event.
The fight, which was captured on video, occurred Saturday night in an arena concourse. The St. Charles County Sheriff said the victim is from O’Fallon, Mo. Nobody was injured
“It was a long standing feud that happened to escalate. Could’ve happened at a movie theater, could’ve happened at a Cardinals game, it could have happened anywhere. Just so happened at our event,” said Kenny Nowling, president of Fight Hard MMA.
Nowling said he has put on 20 events at the Family Arena since 2010 and said there have been very few problems. The sheriff’s office, which handles security at the arena, said it provides extra officers to work such events because of the size of the crowd. MMA events at the Family Arena draw an average of 9200 people.
News 4 has learned there are not metal detectors at the Family Arena, but security will occasionally check bags and purses.
