Increased patrols seen throughout St. Louis over the weekend

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Every patrol officer in St. Louis City and County is working 12 hour shifts and all days off have been canceled as protesters descended on the area over the weekend.

City police would not disclose the exact number of officers in the area as a matter of police safety. However, they did say they are working extended shifts and the Missouri State Highway Patrol was called in to assist during the weekend.

A County police sergeant told News 4 there were around 200 police officers in Ferguson. The officers were a mix of County and State officers.

The increased patrols will cost taxpayers, but the exact cost has not been disclosed yet.
