ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police are investigating a double shooting in downtown St. Louis that left one person dead and another wounded.
The St. Louis Fire Department said two people were shot at 18th Street and Chestnut Street in downtown St. Louis around 3:40 Friday afternoon.
Police say one of the victims, 27-year-old Quinnell Stanciel, was pronounced dead at the scene while the second victim was rushed to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. That victim is in critical condition.
While the incident remains under investigation, witnesses told police the shooting began between two cars at the intersection of 10th and Clark in downtown. One of those cars was seen with shattered windows near 18th and Chestnut, about six blocks from 10th and Clark.
The man who was shot and killed was wearing an ankle bracelet, and police said he was known to law enforcement officials. Authorities said he had just been released from prison. Police believe the victims of the shooting were targeted. Police said the suspects drove away a in silver car onto Westbound I-64/40.
