GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The suspect of a Granite City hit-and-run accident that killed a teenager and left another injured was charged Wednesday.

Twenty six-year-old Son T. Nguyen, of the 2000 block of 4th Street in Madison, was charged with failure to report an accident involving personal injury or death, a felony.

Police say 16-year-old Daniel Embrey and two friends were walking near the intersection of 14th and Edwardsville Road around 9:45 p.m. Monday when they were hit by a passenger car. Police say the responsible vehicle fled the scene following the accident.

When officers arrived at the scene they found two teenage victims. Embrey was pronounced dead and a second victim was flown to a St. Louis hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.  A third person was not injured.

On Tuesday morning, the City of Madison, Illinois Police Department found the suspect's vehicle in the 2000 block of 4th Street.  Police said Nguyen was taken into custody, and they plan to take evidence to the state's attorney for charges.
