ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – People worried about their own safety and living in fear in their neighborhood are planning to do something about it Wednesday night.
Those living near Rumbold Park, nicknamed ‘Walgreens Park’ because of the amount of drugs sold, bought and used there, want to hear from anyone who has positive ideas to help with the issues surrounding the park.
Police have frequently been called to the park, located at North Vandeventer and North Grand, for murders, drug deals and shootings.
“The contrast between what the park could be and it really is, is the saddest part,” said Toni Jackson, who is the organizer of Wednesday’s meeting. “The swing sets look almost brand new because, really who allows their child or children to go in there and utilize it for what it is. Anybody that knows what’s going on does not their children to play in that park.”
Jordan says she hopes police, aldermen and the mayor will all be at the meeting.
Wednesday’s meeting will take place at 2425 Fall Avenue starting at 6:30 p.m.
