ST. LOUIS (HockeyStL)-- The St. Louis Blues announced their opening night roster after making their final cuts Tuesday afternoon.
Notable moves include assigning Blues 2014 first round pick Robby Fabbri to the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League, as well as forward Dmitrij Jaskin and defenseman Chris Butler and Petteri Lindbohm being assigned to the Chicago Wolves.
With Fabbri making it to the Blues' final round of cuts, the future seems bright for the 21st overall pick of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
The opening night roster for Thursday's 7 p.m. game in which the Blues host the New York Rangers is as follows.
Forwards: David Backes, Patrik Berglund, Maxim Lapierre, Jori Lehtera, Joakim Lindstrom, T.J. Oshie,Steve Ott, Magnus Paajarvi, Chris Porter, Ryan Reaves, Jaden Schwartz, Paul Stastny, Alexander Steen,Vladimir Tarasenko
Defense: Jay Bouwmeester, Ian Cole, Carl Gunnarsson, Barret Jackman, Jordan Leopold, Alex Pietrangelo, Kevin Shattenkirk
Goalies: Jake Allen, Brian Elliott
The lone surprise may be the inclusion of Carl Gunnarson on the initial roster, as the defenseman is nursing a hip injury and may be unavailable until the Blues third game of the season.
