ST. LOUIS (AP) -- One of St. Louis’ largest corporations has pledged a total of $1 million to several nonprofit groups that work in Ferguson and other north St. Louis County communities.
The global seed company announced its contributions to four community development efforts Tuesday.
The United Way of Greater St. Louis will receive $500,000 toward mental health services in Ferguson.
The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis will receive $200,000 for a workforce training effort aimed at men ages 21 to 34.
Monsanto plans to provide another $200,000 to the Reinvest North County Fund to help local business damaged by looters after the August shooting death of Michael Brown by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson.
And Legal Services of Eastern Missouri will receive $100,000 from Monsanto.
