MCDONALD COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -A Missouri state representative is getting heat from some people on social media for comments he made about a former high school crush and what 50 years have done to her body.
Missouri State Rep. for the 159th District Bill Lant included the comments in a blog posted on his website dated Oct. 2. The blog post starts with its main focus, child abuse, but then turns to a trip he and his wife took for his 50th class reunion. Lant wrote that the jocks all sat at the same table and the cheerleaders stayed home because they didn’t want everyone to see how old they looked.
Where he is getting the most criticism, though, is when Lant began recounting when he ran into a former female classmate. The main focus turned to the woman’s breasts and how much they have changed over the years.
“The high point for Jane was getting to meet the girl I have mentioned more than a few times over the years because she totally distracted me in Algebra class by wearing a tight cardigan! She even had an exotic name, Pat LaFrank! It never failed, Mr. Howerton would catch me staring at her and smack me across the knuckles with a ruler. I’m not kidding, have you ever noticed how gnarly my knuckles are? Well, Pat came running over and gave me a big hug and I thought she must have been one of the teachers. Wow! Time has not been kind to that girl! What was stretching the cardigan 50 years ago is now bumping the belt.”
Many on social media criticized Lant for his comments. One person said he should take care of his “inappropriate and childish behavior.”
Another person (@mfav) wrote on Twitter “@RepBillLant read yr blog where u ridiculed BY FULL NAME the shape of female classmate@yr 50th HS reunion. Embarrassng 2 u, her & Missouri.”
A woman wrote on KCTV5’s Facebook page said that his comments were “Pretty poor decision making skills seeing that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
KCTV5 has messages into Lant’s office but, being that it is a weekend, we have only received an auto response message.
