GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – The suspect of a Granite City hit-and-run accident that killed a teenager and left another injured has been arrested.
Police say 16-year-old Daniel Embrey and two friends were walking near the intersection of 14th and Edwardsville Road around 9:45 p.m. Monday when they were hit by a passenger car. Police say the responsible vehicle fled the scene following the accident.
When officers arrived at the scene they found two teenage victims. Embrey was pronounced dead and a second victim was flown to a St. Louis hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries. A third person was not injured.
On Tuesday morning, the City of Madison, Illinois Police Department found the suspect's vehicle in the 2000 block of 4th Street. Police said a 26-year-old suspect was taken into custody, and they plan to take evidence to the state's attorney for charges.
