CREVE COEUR (KMOV) – St. Louis County Police are investigating a rash of car break-ins overnight near Creve Coeur.
A dozen victims woke up to shattered car door windows on several streets including Point Diane, Stoney View, Will Rogers and others.
“You kind of feel violated,” said Pat Stroker who had two cars broken into. “I came out here and this window that was tinted was lying flat on the driveway and this one here was shattered.”
When Stroker called police, he quickly realized he wasn’t alone.
“One behind us, one up the street one around the corner, a couple up the street,” he said.
St. Louis County Police say the thieves got away with cash, computers, iPads and phones.
“I was one of the lucky people that was vandalized,” said Kathy Nelson.
They were unable to get into Nelson’s car but her driver’s side window is shattered.
“It’s [going to cost] between $300-800, pretty pricey,” said Nelson.
Stroker was also fortunate not to have anything stolen but his car was torn apart.
“My stuff was all over the seat, they emptied the glove box, center counsel,” he described.
Police dusted the cars for prints and the victims hope they'll have answers soon.
“Not for my reasons but because there are other people out there this doesn’t happen to. The damage is done here,” said Nelson.
St. Louis County Police do not know how many suspects were involved and they do not have any information on them at this time. They do not think these break-ins are related to any others.
