SUNSET HILLS, Mo. -- Sunset Hills Mayor Mark Furrer was charged Wednesday after allegedly striking a bicyclist with his car in July.
Cyclist Randy Murdick of Fenton says he was nearing the end of a 40-mile ride on July 29 when Furrer used an expletive while yelling at him to get off the road and then swerved his red Mercedes into the high-performance racing bike.
This reportedly happened near 12399 Gravois Road in St. Louis County.
Furrer was charged with 2nd degree assault and 1st degree property damage.
Murdick said at the time his Achilles tendon was ruptured and his $12,000 bike damaged extensively. Furrer says he didn't hit Murdick but that the cyclist grabbed onto his car before falling.
