Boom! Yadie, Beltran, Holliday, Freese go deep against the Brewers

(BaseballStL) -- One after another the Cardinals big bats notched their first home runs of the season against Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo.

Yadier Molina launched the Cardinals first home run of the season with a shot over the right field wall in the second inning against the Brewers in Milwaukee.

The very next inning the Cards big bats started firing off bombs.  Carlos Beltran led off the third with a crushing no-doubt-about-it blast to right field. Matt Holliday went back to back on the very next pitch with a smash over the left wall.  Just like the Cards were up over the shell schocked Brewers 3-2.

But it didn't stop there.  After a Berkman walk David Freese fired an upper-deck if-it-stays-fair-it's-gone shot down the left field line to make it 5-2.  Four batters into the third and three home runs in the inning!

The fireworks came after Brewers jumped on Cardinals starter Jamie Garcia right out of the gate in the first inning. Lead-off hitter Rickie Weeks singled to center and was then driven home on a triple down the left-field line by Carlos Gomez.

Next up, Aramis Ramirez grounded out to David Freese. We were thinking Freese could have got the guy at home, but opted for the sure out at first. That put the Brewers up 2-0 after one inning. No worries though, Freese made up for it with his bat the next inning with the two-run shot (see above).

Midway through the third, 5-2 Cardinals.
