ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – One man was killed and a woman injured in a double shooting in north St. Louis Thursday night.

According to police, an unknown gunman walked up to a vehicle in the 1500 block of Whittier around 8:15 p.m. and open fired, killing Tracy D. Jones, 47, and injuring a woman.

Police say the gunman fled the scene on foot.

The 56-year-old female victim was rushed to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the right thigh. She was treated and released.

Jones was hit in the chest and back.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to find a possible relation between the fatal shooting and a previous shooting in the 4200 block of Aldine.

Police were called to that scene at 8:10 p.m. when a 29-year-old man was shot at by two suspects while sitting in a car. He was not injured.  The male suspects, 24 and 19,  were taken into custody at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
