ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A former Edward Jones trust officer was sentenced to 21 months in prison Thursday for defrauding elderly and other incapacitated clients between May 2006 and June 2011.
Court documents say Duane Cook, 36, submitted false invoices and sent Edward Jones Trust checks to a false company called Fever, a company Cook made up. The checks totalled up to $188,848 and were taken from three different clients.
When Edward Jones discovered the fraud, they did an internal investigation and fully reimbursed their clients.
According to the States Attorney's Office, Cook pleaded guilty in January to one felony count of mail fraud.
Cook will also have to pay the $188,848.07 that he stole back in restitution.
