New moms and babies in a bind often rely on community agencies to help early on and now those agencies are getting some help from the community.
The Shower of Love just started and it goes through May, 2012.
The Community and Children's Resource Board in St. Charles County puts this on each year. Look for the crib by JC Penney on the second level of Mid Rivers Mall as well as in area libraries and banks to donate items like diapers, formula, bottles and wipes.
For a complete list of donations and other ways to help, check out www.stcharlescountykids.org.
The items will go to seven area agencies that help new moms in crisis.
"In our efforts to collect these items we're trying to give the moms and babies a strong start in life and try to avoid child abuse and neglect in St. Charles County," says Michelle McElfresh of the Community and Children's Resource Board.
McElfresh says in the first five years of doing this, they've raised more than $280,000 worth of baby care items.
