EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A man already in federal prison on drug charges faces up to 75 more years behind bars for his conviction in the drive-by killing of a 12-year-old southwestern Illinois boy.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Madison County for Marcus Powell, 31.

Powell was convicted in February of first-degree murder in the 2008 death of Delarrian Davis.

Authorities say the boy was in his Madison home and had just started writing a letter to the local school board when bullets sprayed his house. Davis was shot in the head.

Investigators contend Powell had a feud with a man living at the house.

Powell is serving 35 years on an unrelated drug charge.

He faces up to 60 years on the murder conviction and 15 years on a weapons count.
