ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) -- An overnight traffic accident shut down Interstate 55 in south St. Louis County for more than an hour.
The accident happened in the southbound lanes around 11:50 Monday night. Traffic had to be diverted onto Meramec Bottom Road while crews cleared the scene.
The Missouri Highway Patrol's crash report says 18-year-old Azra Kopic from Arnold, Missouri, was in the far left lane when she rapidly crossed over three lanes and slowed down. An 18-wheeler heading south on I-55 ran into Kopic's 2012 Volkswagon Jetta. The car was totaled.
Kopic was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Medical Cente, but her injuries are said to be minor.
The Highway Patrol has identified the truck driver as Jack Fabry, 54, from Lena, Wisconsin.
Fabry was not injured and damage to his rig is said to be minor.
The interstate reopened just before 1:00 Tuesday morning.
No word yet on whether any charges will be filed in this accident.
