Hair salon suffers extensive damage in south St. Louis morning fire

(KMOV.com) -- A hair salon in south St. Louis suffered heavy damage to the front of the business after a fire broke out early Monday morning.
 
According to reports, the fire started at the Cliche Salon and Spa in the 2900 block of South Jefferson Avenue around 12:30 a.m.
 
Authorities said residents who live above the salon smelled smoke and called 911.  Fire crews responded and extinguished the fire. The business suffered extensive damage.
 
Windows in the front of the business were broken out.  It is not clear if firefighters broke out the windows or if the windows were broken out when authorities arrived.
 
A fire investigative unit was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.  The cause, if determined, has not yet been released.
