(KMOV) – Jefferson County officials say they have one man in custody for allegedly robbing and abducting an Imperial woman around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on the 5200 block of Lakewood Landing.

Jeffery Smith, 18, has been charged with 1st degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Police say two men approached her vehicle with two semi-automatic handguns and allegedly struck the victim with the pistol. They allegedly demanded money and keys before forcing her into the trunk of her vehicle, and fled the area.

The victim was able to open the trunk from the inside and escaped the vehicle.

Arnold Police say they spotted the victim’s vehicle and with the help of St. Louis County and SGHP Police, they pursued the car.

The pursuit ended on the Poplar Street Bridge when the vehicle was disabled.
