ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- A cold front is passing over the St. Louis area, and thunderstorms are expected to develop in the warm air along and ahead of that front, according to News 4 Meteorologist Matt Chambers.
The storms will likely pop up near or just south of Interstate 44 in Missouri and Interstate 70 in Illinois.
A few of the storms could become severe within an hour or two of forming.
The Storm Prediction Center is considering a severe thunderstorm watch that would most likely include some of our Illinois counties. Parts of eastern and southeastern Missouri could be included as well.
Hail and gusty winds would be the primary threats with any severe storms that do develop.
