Police: Family member turns in 'flip-flop' bank robber

LEBANON, Illinois – A woman known as the “flip-flop bandit” who robbed a bank in Lebanon is now in custody, according to Lebanon police.

Police said the woman, whose name has not been released, was arrested at the North County Hotel and is currently being held in the St. Louis County Jail.

According to police, she was turned in by a family member who saw surveillance pictures of the woman.

Police said the FBI was working to extradite her back to Illinois to face charges.

Police said the woman was holding a gun when she walked into the First Federal Savings Bank in the 110 block of S. Madison Street on Monday. Authorities said the woman took an unknown amount of cash before fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported.
