TRENTON, Il. (KMOV) – The water department in Trenton, Illinois has issued a boil order for 2,800 residents until further notice.
A series of problems over the weekend, including a broken water main, resulted in the boil order being issued. The initial problem was the broken water main followed by a failed water pump that helps regulate the level of stored fresh water reserves. The pump failure allowed the reserves to drain out.
The water main has been repaired and water service was restored to all homes around 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Residents will still need to boil their drinking water for 48 hours.
