The current Blues team just might finish this season as the best team in franchise history. They got off to the fasted start any Blues team has ever had. They’re currently on pace to earn 124 points this season. That’d be 10 more than the 1999-2000 Blues that won the President’s Trophy.

The Blues aren’t doing this with a team full of superstars. The key to their success has been depth and balanced scoring. On the current roster of players, only one of them would make my All Time 20 man Blues roster.

To make the roster, a player had to be with the Blues for at least three seasons. That knocks out Wayne Gretzky, Doug Harvey and Scott Stevens. They just weren’t here long enough to be considered “true Blues”.

Here’s my All Time roster:

C-Bernie Federko

C-Gary Unger

C-Red Berenson

C-Adam Oates

LW-Brendan Shanahan

LW-Brian Sutter

LW-Keith Tkachuk

LW-Jorgen Pettersson

RW-Brett Hull

RW-Joe Mullen

RW-Pavol Demitra

RW-Wayne Babych

D-Al MacInnis

D-Chris Pronger

D-Barclay Plager

D-Al Arbour

D-Alex Pietrangelo

D-Paul Cavallini

Picking defensemen isn’t easy because stats don’t always tell an accurate story. But I couldn’t ignore the fact that Paul Cavallini had a plus/minus rating of +99 in his career with the Blues.

Agree? Disagree?
