Missouri Department of Transportation says the break happened on Highway 367 near Lewis and Clark around 11:15 p.m.
The highway was shut down in both directions between Havalin and Interstate 270 after below-freezing temperatures caused the water freeze as it hit the road.
A driver crashed after traveling on the frozen water and losing control of their vehicle. Injuries were reported, though the conditions of the victims was unknown.
Authorities say the highway will not reopen until around 2 p.m. and drivers are being urged to find an alternate route.
