ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Charles is using security cameras to watch out for vandalism and rowdy behavior along its historic Main Street, and more are planned.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the cameras are not routinely monitored, but police can access them to investigate incidents.
Police used video footage as evidence in the theft of a purse from a parked car on Dec. 1. Authorities say the video evidence led them to a 30-year-old Wentzville man.
The first three cameras were installed in February, and four more went up in October. A city official says more cameras will probably be added around next spring.
